K-pop sensation BTS announced a series of stadium shows across North America, South America, Europe, and Japan this summer.
The trek, dubbed “BTS World Tour Love Yourself: Speak Yourself,” will hit eight cities, starting in Los Angeles, California on May 4. From there, the boyband, also known as Bangtan Boys, will make stops at Chicago’s Soldier Field and East Rutherford’s MetLife Stadium before heading overseas to play in London and Paris. They’ll wrap-up in Japan with two-day stints in Osaka and Shizuoka mid-July.
BTS will be touring in support of 2018 records Face Yourself, Love Yourself ‘Tear,’ and Love Yourself ‘Answer.’ They are best-known for top tracks like “MIC Drop” with Steve Aoki and Desiigner, “DNA,” “Blood Sweat and Tears,” and “Fake Love.”
This will follow their massively successful “Love Yourself Tour” last Fall, which stopped in Los Angeles, Oakland, Fort Worth, Newark, New York City, and Chicago. The group became the first K-pop band to play a U.S. stadium on tour and are continuing to break records; their third LP Love Yourself: Tear became the first K-pop album to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and was the first predominantly non-English album to top the chart since 2012.
K-pop has been consistently on-the-rise in the U.S. since BTS emerged in 2017. BLACKPINK, a K-pop girl group, just announced their debut North American headlining tour following their appearance at Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival this spring. With two groups dominating the market with top hits, it’s likely we’ll see more K-pop in the states in the coming years.
