Pop icon Madonna had to push back shows on her Madame X Tour last month due to production issues, and now, she had to cancel another show in New York City after revealing a previously undisclosed knee injury.
Currently, she is performing a run of concerts at New York City’s BAM Howard Gilman Opera House through October 12. However, last night, she had to postpone her performance while she deals with a knee injury and “has been advised rest for the next three days to assist in her recovery,” a statement on her website reads. While a new date has not been rescheduled yet, fans are encouraged to hold onto their tickets as they will be honored during the new gig.
Madonna took to Instagram to share the news, revealing that it’s hard to admit it, but her alter ego Madame X is “a human being made of flesh and blood and she must rest for the next three days to insure full recovery of her knee.”
“I am not a quitter,” she said. “This hurts more than you can imagine. It’s time to take those heels and fishnets off for a few days!”
Following the New York City dates, Madonna will appear at the Chicago Theatre, followed by a round of shows at Las Vegas’ Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Los Angeles’ Wiltern, the Boch Center Wang Theatre in Boston, Philadelphia’s The Met, and the Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater. From there, she’ll head abroad to perform in Lisbon, London, and Paris.
While there were originally rumors of the tour facing sluggish sales, the trek has been extended twice to meet high demand.
Madonna is touring in support of her 14th album, Madame X, which dropped this past June and features singles “I Rise” and “Medellin.”
