Fab Morvan of Milli Vanilli is Latest Artist to Exit Trump's Great American State Fair Amid Event's Political Ties

Milli Vanilli’s Fab Morvan is the latest to drop-off the lineup for The Great American State Fair, presented by the Donald Trump-backed organization Freedom 250.

In an interview with CNN, Morvan said that the Fair “turned into a circus” and it’s “not what I signed [up for].” Morvan, who lives in Europe, noted in the interview that when his team received the dates for the fair, he thought this would be a perfect opportunity, as “I’ve learned a lot of lessons in America, hard lessons that I never forgot to this day.” While he thought that it was “the cherry on top” that the Fair was celebrating the 250th anniversary of America, he quickly learned otherwise.

“What happened is when I saw Young MC pull out, and I was like, ‘Oh, that’s weird. Why is he pulling out? Because does he know anything that I don’t know? What does he know that I don’t know?’” Morvan explained in the interview. “So I was a little worried there. And then, one after the next, people started to leave. But I was told by my team, who was told by another team: ‘There’s nothing, there’s no political entanglement, there’s no political alignment. It’s just a free show for the people.’

“I was there to unite the people, to bring people together, to have them walk down memory lane, celebrate life. Some people that were there, that would be there, were there when my music came out, so it was a way to say, ‘Hey, I’m still here, you’re still here. Let’s have a good time together.’ That’s what it was for me.”

However, once he discovered that Trump had ties to the event, he backed-out.

“I’m not into politics, so you hear it first here: I’m not attending,” Morvan said.

Milli Vanilli marks the sixth act to drop-off the festival bill, following suit of Morris Day and The Time, Young MC, The Commodores, Martina McBride, and Bret Michaels. C+C Music Factory’s appearance at the event remains in question, as does Flo Rida, who has not commented on any of the recent cancellations at this time.

The sole remaining confirmed act is Vanilla Ice — and Trump himself. The President said he will step-in and headline the event, taking the place of “these highly paid, Third Rate ‘Artists'” and give a rally to “move the country forward like I have done ever since being President.”

An adviser for Freedom 250 confirmed to The Washington Post that Trump will now kick-off the opening event for the festival on June 24, the day before the first musical act was set to perform. No further details regarding his attendance — nor how he will be “headlining” the event — has been revealed at this time.
