The Broadway musical “Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York)” is getting ready to launch a North American tour in fall 2027.
The tour is scheduled to begin at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Providence, Rhode Island, before traveling to cities across the United States and Canada. Additional stops and casting details are expected to be announced later.
In a statement, producer Kevin McCollum shared, “It’s been thrilling to see audiences connect and fall in love with Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York). With a funny, original, and uplifting story; soaring songs; theatrical stage magic; and knockout performances, it’s truly what Broadway does best.”
“This original musical taps into a universal truth and shows that at times the most random meetings can create family against all odds. It isn’t just a story about two strangers, it is a story about all of us who long for connection,” McCollum continued. “We can’t wait for theatergoers across the country to come to the show as strangers and leave as friends.”

Currently playing at the Longacre Theatre, the Broadway production stars Christiani Pitts and Sam Tutty. Both performers also appeared in the musical’s American Repertory Theater production before the show transferred to Broadway. Tutty previously originated the role of Dougal in London.
The musical features a book, music, and lyrics by Jim Barne and Kit Buchan. Tim Jackson directs and choreographs the production after previously staging the London version of the show.
The creative team includes scenic and costume designer Soutra Gilmour, lighting designer Jack Knowles, sound designer Tony Gayle, music supervisor Nick Finlow, and orchestrator Lux Pyramid. Casting is handled by C12 Casting and casting director Stephen Kopel.
The Broadway production is produced by McCollum, Tim Johanson, Glass Half Full Productions, and Jamie Wilson Productions.
