The Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) has appointed Oak View Group’s (OVG) Global Partnerships division as its exclusive sponsorship sales agency, marking a significant step in the league’s commercial growth strategy.
Under the agreement, OVG will oversee national, regional, and local sponsorship sales for the PWHL and its eight teams. The partnership launches with a multi-year deal naming Global Industrial Company (NYSE: GIC) as the league’s Official Industrial Supplies Partner. The agreement represents both the first league-wide partnership under the new PWHL-OVG commercial program and Global Industrial’s first-ever sports league partnership.
PWHL and OVG will collaborate to develop integrated sponsorship opportunities across team and league assets. Available inventory includes branding on game and practice uniforms and equipment, dasher boards, virtual in-game integrations, video boards, original content, and activations tied to the league’s community and social impact initiatives.
Global Industrial will serve as a North American partner, supporting game-day operations for teams in Boston, Minnesota, New York, Seattle, and Vancouver. Ice crews for U.S.-based PWHL teams and Vancouver will be branded as the “Global Industrial Ice Crew.” The company will supply branded tools and equipment, including ice shovels, waste bins, and carts, used to maintain playing surfaces throughout the season.
Amy Scheer, Executive Vice President of Business Operations for the PWHL, said the partnership with OVG is designed to attract brands aligned with the league’s rapid growth and engaged fan base.
“Our partnership with Oak View Group opens the door for a new wave of brands to join the PWHL
and connect with our incredibly passionate fan base,” Scheer said in a press release. “Global Industrial is a perfect example of the kind of thoughtful, authentic alignment we’re building. This partnership strengthens our teams on the ice and underscores a natural alignment between the value Global Industrial delivers and the PWHL.”
Dan Griffis, President of Global Partnerships at Oak View Group, pointed to the league’s trajectory and the broader growth of women’s sports as key drivers behind the collaboration.
“Drawing from our extensive experience supporting teams, leagues, and venues across sports,
we’re eager to create meaningful and mutually beneficial partnerships that help grow the game of
women’s hockey and inspire future generations,” Griffis said in a press release. “Personally, I am very bullish on the momentum behind the PWHL and believe the upcoming Winter Olympics will continue to be a catalyst for its growth.”
Griffis added that “women’s sports is not a moment in time but a movement for generations to come and our GP team is both optimistic and energetic to support its incredible athletes while delivering long-term
value to brands that believe in equity, excellence, and community.”
Founded in 2015, OVG’s Global Partnerships division has completed 42 naming rights agreements and generated more than $6.3 billion in partnership revenue across 629 brands since 2019. The PWHL agreement marks OVG’s first league-wide representation deal, covering all eight teams: Boston Fleet, Minnesota Frost, Montreal Victoire, New York Sirens, Ottawa Charge, Seattle Torrent, Toronto Sceptres, and Vancouver Goldeneyes.
Launched on January 1, 2024, the PWHL has set multiple attendance records and holds the all-time global attendance mark for a women’s hockey game. The eight-team league continues to expand its commercial footprint as interest in women’s professional sports accelerates across North America.
