Parker McCollum gave a group of hometown nurses a surprise they won’t soon forget.

The multi-Platinum country star and 61st ACM Awards Album of the Year nominee made an unannounced appearance this week at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands, turning what began as a routine staff gathering into an emotional appreciation event for local frontline healthcare workers.

The visit marked the launch of the Healthcare Heroes Initiative, a national effort founded by Create Amor to recognize and support nurses through surprise events, community partnerships and meaningful acts of gratitude. As part of the kickoff, 500 nurses received pairs of Create Amor scrubs, extending the celebration beyond the room and reaching hundreds of healthcare workers in the Montgomery County community.

“This community is home to me, and these nurses are a big part of what holds it together,” McCollum said. “Being here to give back, even in a small way, means a lot.”

McCollum also emphasized the everyday dedication of nurses, noting that their work often goes unrecognized.

“What these nurses do every single day, it’s not easy, and it doesn’t always get recognized,” he said. “I’m just grateful I had the chance to come by and thank them for what they do.”

Create Amor Founder and CEO Matthew Vuckovich said the initiative is designed to put a national spotlight on the people who serve patients and communities every day.

“This is about showing up for those who show up for all of us,” Vuckovich said. “Nurses give everything every single day, and they deserve to be seen, valued, and supported. This is just the beginning of what we’re building nationally.”

The event was supported by Woodforest National Bank, with complimentary energy drinks provided by Bloom Nutrition. Hospital leadership also praised the effort as a meaningful reminder of the value nurses bring to both the hospital and the wider community.

“Our nurses show extraordinary compassion, strength, and commitment every day,” said John Voight, Chief Nursing Officer at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands. “Moments like this remind them how valued they truly are, not just within our organization, but in the broader community.”

The Healthcare Heroes Initiative is expected to expand to hospitals across the country, with additional surprise appreciation events planned throughout the year.

McCollum, meanwhile, will continue touring through 2026, including a return to Colorado’s legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre after three consecutive years of sold-out shows, along with his first-ever international dates later this year.
