PWHL Reports Record Attendance and Growth in Third Season

The Professional Women’s Hockey League has concluded its 2025–26 regular season with record-setting growth across several key metrics, including attendance, fan engagement, and overall reach.

The league hosted 120 regular season games this year, drawing a total of 1,116,497 fans. That figure represents an average of 9,304 attendees per game. Attendance increased 28% compared to the 2024–25 season, which included both regular season and playoff games, and rose 71% from the league’s inaugural season.

This season also marked the first time the PWHL exceeded one million fans in a single year.

By comparison, the 2024–25 season saw 653,415 fans attend 90 regular season games, averaging 7,260 per game. In its first season, the league recorded 392,259 fans across 72 games, with an average of 5,448.

A game held at Capital One Arena set a U.S. attendance record for a women’s hockey game, with 17,228 fans in attendance. That record was later surpassed during sold-out events at Climate Pledge Arena and Madison Square Garden.

The league’s growth coincided with increased attention on women’s hockey during the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, which featured a gold medal game between the United States and Canada. The United States won the gold medal.
